Pachca's hidden features

Pachca has plenty of features for power users. We mention them in our articles and other materials, but not everyone knows about them. Here are our top 8 features that make communication faster and easier:

1. Link to a message in a thread. It works just like with regular messages: hover over a message in a thread → click the three dots → Copy link.

2. Hide direct messages. If you've piled up too many direct messages, you can hide them. Just hover over the chat you want to hide and click the cross. When you open the conversation, you'll see a Chat hidden label. The chat doesn't disappear for good: you can bring it back with the Show in chat list button. The conversation also reappears in the sidebar if the other person messages you, or if you find the chat in Browse and send a message yourself.

3. Left and right sidebar width. You can collapse the left sidebar and also widen it to whatever size works for you. You can change the width of the right sidebar the same way: for threads, chat settings and when you create tasks.

4. Search by emoji. In chats and global search, you can find a message by emoji. This is handy if you use emoji to label messages or run team polls, or if a colleague has a favorite emoji they always use.

5. Call passwords (a feature of the legacy calls). You can set a password for joining a video call. To turn it on, click the three dots in the bottom panel and go to Security settings.

6. 5 ways to get notified about new comments in a thread:

• Open the thread and click the bell icon in the top-right corner
• React to the message you want to follow comments on
• Post something in the thread
• If people comment on your message, you'll get notifications about their comments
• If someone mentions you in a thread, you'll also get notifications from it

7. 3 ways to restart the app.

• Press Ctrl+R/Cmd+R. This restarts the Pachca app on Windows or macOS. In a browser, you can also use the page reload button.
• Quit Pachca from the tray. This is the second way to restart the Pachca desktop app. Try it if the first one didn't work.
• Click the banner. When a Pachca update is available, a banner pops up. Click it and Pachca restarts.

8. GIF or emoji avatars. You can set a GIF, not just an image, as a chat or profile picture. Chats can use an emoji too: a new chat gets a random one, and you can pick your own when you create the chat or in its settings.
