Pachca secrets: calls
All our #Секреты_Пачки (Pachca secrets) tips about calls from our Telegram channel, in one place.
Note: this article covers Pachca's legacy calls. The new video platform is already available: it's on by default in new workspaces, and other companies can turn it on in the settings. Learn more in New video calls in Pachca.
The lobby, password and moderator settings in this roundup also apply to legacy calls. In the new video calls, moderators have different options. We cover them in Moderation in video calls.
Nearly every team uses calls almost every day. That's why we want Pachca video calls to have everything you need for productive meetings. We've gathered all the tips from our #Секреты_Пачки (Pachca secrets) series on our Telegram channel in one place.
You can use any image from your computer as your background. On the call join page, click the landscape icon → Add background. To add a background during a call, click the three dots on the bottom bar → Select background image. You can also pick one of the options in the window.
If you click the record button, the bot sends you the video right in the chat after the call ends.
During video calls, you can send direct messages to other participants. To do this, go to Participants, click the three dots next to the person's name → Send message. You can also create polls right in the call chat. To create one, click the Polls tab in the chat → Create poll.
The lobby works like a waiting room: people joining the meeting wait there until a moderator lets them in. Only a moderator can turn on the lobby. To do this, click the three dots on the bottom bar → Security settings → Enable lobby.
You can also set a password for joining a video call. To do this, click the three dots on the bottom bar and go to Security settings.
Breakout rooms let you split call participants into separate groups. To create them, click the people icon at the bottom, then click Add breakout room in the window that opens. Participants can find the rooms in the same tab. Once everyone is assigned to rooms, you can see the list of participants in each one.
A moderator can set up settings for all participants at once or for each one individually. General settings are in the More actions menu (the three dots icon) → Settings → Moderator settings. For quick access to the main settings, open the participants tab by clicking the people icon on the bottom bar. To manage settings for a specific participant, hover over their video and click the three dots in the top-right corner.
Every call participant can change how loud other participants sound on their own device. This comes in handy if, say, someone's mic is really loud. To adjust someone's volume, hover over them, click the three dots in the top-right corner and adjust the volume.
Several call participants can share their screens at the same time. They just click Start screen sharing on the bottom bar in the call and choose which tab or window to show. Everyone else on the call can easily switch between their teammates' screens.
You can use reactions in calls too. During a call, click the arrow on the hand icon on the bottom bar and pick an emoji. Everyone on the call will see it, and if lots of people react at once, you'll see a stream of emoji. By default, reactions play a sound, but you can turn it off in the meeting settings.
To invite people to your workspace, you can use an invite link. You can also deactivate the old link and create a new one. The link is valid for 14 days.
You no longer need to open the chat to join an active video call. Just click the camera icon that appears, and you'll be in the video call with your teammates.
